I’m New . . .

What should I wear?

Whatever you feel comfortable in. From the start, we want you to know that TUMC cares about what you are on the inside, not what you look like on the outside. Persons dress from very casual to coat/tie, with the greater percentage being in between with business casual. So wear what you feel comfortable in, as we want you to be happy, welcomed, and right at home.

Where do I park?

We are fortunate to have ample parking spaces on both sides of our church for those who attend. We have visitor parking space marked on the Main Entrance of our church on the corner of Lawson and 51st Street. Also, there are handicapped parking spaces on both sides of the church, close to our entrances.

Where do I go once I am inside?

Our greeters will be happy to help you find your way. There are signs directing you to the Sanctuary for traditional worship.  If you would like to worship in our Contemporary Service, follow the signs to the Christian Life Center (CLC). If you are looking for the nursery for your infant, toddler, or preschooler, you should look for signs directing you to the Office Building.  Our Preschool/Nursery area is located in that building.  We have a very warm church family that will gladly offer you assistance.

Will I be asked to identify myself as a visitor?

No, certainly not. You will not be asked to introduce yourself, wear a special nametag, or anything else that might embarrass you. We do have a time of greeting in the service, and for the most part you will not be known as a visitor because of the size of our worship services. We do, however, want you to know that we will be ready to connect when you are. All persons are asked to sign in, and if you desire us to contact you, you can inform us on the sign-in pew pad.

What should I do with my children?

Your children are welcome and encouraged to attend worship with you.  If you would prefer, your infant or toddler to be lovingly cared for in the nursery, you should plan to check them in a few minutes before Worship begins.  Our nursery is located in the Office building.  You will find signs pointing you in the right direction.  Children ages 3 thru 7 years are invited to Children’s Church during both 11 AM Worship Services.  At mid-point, the children are escorted out of the worship service by an adult and led to Children’s Church.  You may pick them up after the service in the Office building/Nursery area.  Our Children’s Church is not offered the first Sunday of each month because we want families to experience communion together. Of course our Nursery is always open.

Which worship service is right for me?

We have three worship services at Trinity UMC.  The 8:30 AM and 11 AM are both traditional services in the Sanctuary.  The third service at 11 AM is our Contemporary Service in the Christian Life Center.  All three services last approximately one hour and they include worshipful music, a relevant Biblical message, and time for altar prayer.

What can I expect during a worship service?

• First, the focus is going to be on God, so do not think you will be embarrassed or pressured to give money or to join the church. Therefore, relax and focus on experiencing worship.

• We will be singing songs from the hymnal provided to express our love to God, and you can sing as a means of worship to God from your heart. The chancel choir is present for the 11:00 a.m. worship.  In the contemporary service we will sing today’s popular praise and worship music with the accompaniment of our Praise Team.

• You may also see Christian sacraments such as baptism (infant or adult) or communion (regularly on first Sunday).

• Our pastor will share a biblically based message.

• Our services usually last about one hour.

Are you going to ask me for money when I attend?

We do take an offering during each worship service, but as our guest your presence is your gift to us. If you choose to give an offering, we thank you for your blessing to God’s work through the ministry of our church.
